Remember the Subscriber Surge Giveaway I talked about a while back? I recently received my initial batch of mailing list subscribers from Written Word Media, so the dreaded author newsletter has reared its ugly head. I was supposed to use the past six weeks to learn about composing a newsletter. I didn't do that. I didn't even find out what hosting site to use. (I was preoccupied with my latest project.)
Thus, today while I'm waiting for GoDaddy to get my new domain attached to my website (I sure hope it works -- I've been pulling my hair out) I dove in and created a "welcome" email to my new subscribers. I subscribed to a couple of well-known authors' newsletters; one hasn't yet bothered to send one; the other's is kind of...ehh. I wanted to glean some wisdom about what to include and what not to include. I frankly didn't learn much.
So I dove in and went with Substack and just started writing. It was a bit of a learning curve, but I think I (might have) conquered it. My Substack is here.
I await the unsubscribe requests....
One has to keep trying. Someday something might click.
