A few posts back, I questioned whether I would ever write again. Frankly, I wasn't in the best state of mind after viewing my miserable sales record.
But the thing is, if I don't write, what do I do? Watch awful TV? I don't like being idle. So I started a new story and told myself, hey, if it doesn't go anywhere, so what? Oddly, it did go somewhere. So I kept going.
One thing that surprised me is how quickly this one was completed ~ two months. For me, that's a record. I'm notoriously slow.
And I like it! I edited it a few times, but I finally decided I wasn't going to beat myself up or chastise myself for (my perceived) bad word choices. The story flows nicely. That's what matters.
Here is the dreaded blurb:
Vanessa’s brother had always wanted her dead, and this time he
almost succeeded. Instead he perished in the fire he’d set. The
investigator even certified it. Suddenly free for the first time in her
life, Vanessa can finally build a normal existence—get married, find a
decent job—without constantly looking over her shoulder.
Banned
from her profession due to one of her brother’s misdeeds, she eventually
finds contract work with a lone wolf attorney who represents clients
every other lawyer has rejected. Sitting behind her boss in the
courtroom, Vanessa ponders how the back of the defendant’s head looks
strangely familiar.
It couldn’t be.
Could it?
Bad Blood is available for purchase here. It's only $2.99 for a nice little tale of suspense.
I hope you like it!
